Veel van het bijbehorende managementonderzoek heeft zich gericht op het onderzoeken van manieren om 'betekenis te bieden en te managen' via leiderschap of organisatiecultuur.<br>Dit staat in schril contrast met de literatuur uit de geesteswetenschappen die suggereert dat zingeving niet hoeft te worden aangeboden, omdat het kenmerk van een mens is dat hij of zij een intrinsieke 'wil tot zingeving' heeft.
